Are you being Vandalised
Are you secretly being “vandalised'”
How would you feel if you knew that something was silently working away in your body that had the potential to “vandalise” your veins, arteries, heart, brain, eyes and kidney. Would that make you stop and think differently. It should. High Blood Pressure or hypertension is doing just that. Its a vandal in every sense, causing damage and destruction to your body.
4 million people are living with un treated high blood pressure and of this statistic 1.3million are under 45 years of age.
High blood pressure will often be undetected for years as it doesn’t display any immediate painful or noticeable physical signs.
Now this has got you thinking, think what you can do to keep your body “vandal” free. Thankfully blood pressure monitoring is one of the easiest medical procedures to do, its something we all have access to at our GP or health centre. Secondly we can eat our way to maintain healthy blood pressure. Potassium is an important mineral that has the ability to lower blood pressure. Nature provides this for us by packaging it up perfectly into our fruit & vegetables. Studies have shown that consuming fruit & vegetables lowers high blood pressure, in fact it had the same effect on people that were taking chloride Potassium. The main difference being that the people who consumed potassium from fruit & veg were getting other added health benefits such as vitamins, minerals and fibre.
It seems we have a choice. Sustain your long term health by eating more potassium rich foods or continue to let your body be “vandalised” with the potential of needing to be on prescription medication.
Get your blood pressure checked when visiting your health professional. Having an awareness is always the best first step in managing your health.
