Happy Easter 🐣 Happy Easter 🐣
Hello April! Has a month ever held such expectati Hello April!

Has a month ever held such expectations for us!
We all have our hopes pinned on April, allowing us to take those much needed steps back to normality.
April brings us Easter, eating outdoors, spring bulbs, showers (snow?!?) & being with friends and family again.
The latin meaning of April is “to open” which is fitting for many trees and flowers as they just start to bloom.
It is the eating season for asparagus, radish, spring cabbages and spring onions. Get seasonal with your ingredients.

May April live up to its expectations!

Hair Today…Gone Tomorrow! I can speak from pers Hair Today…Gone Tomorrow!

I can speak from personal experience on this one.

I have always been blessed with a full head of hair and lots of it. My silent plea has always been to have thinner and more manageable hair BUT be careful what you wish for!!!

Two years ago, I started to lose a lot more hair between shampoo’s and then at my regular hair appointment my stylist mentioned that I had the start of alopecia. The bald spot was about an 1.5 inches in diameter & not a single hair to be found in this little spot.
Of course, I panicked and thought what have I done to myself but I soon spent some time reflecting on my own health and took a deeper look. I quickly noticed some other symptoms that were not glaringly obvious but nevertheless still symptoms and I decided that I needed to do some testing to confirm my thoughts.

As the months went by I made some changes and took my health a bit more seriously and realised that running on full throttle on half a tank no longer worked for me. Thankfully the bald spot disappeared and my hair continued to grow and is still unmanageable.

It made me realise that often we will ignore the other signs our body gives us but when it comes to something that we cherish like our hair we may stop and take notice. Regardless if this is for vanity reasons or because we associate healthy looking hair with health, it is something we shouldn’t ignore. It is a message from our body asking us to stop and take notice.

Two key points: Listen to your body & be careful what you wish for!

Choose you words wisely To often we choose words Choose you words wisely

To often we choose words that have such a negative and harsh meaning. Instead find a way to say things that still have a positive message.

How we think about ourselves has a huge impact on how we feel. Stop telling yourself you are a failure but rather that you are still figuring things out and know what doesn’t work for you.

You have heard the saying... BREAKFAST like a kin You have heard the saying...

BREAKFAST like a king
LUNCH like a prince
DINNER like a pauper

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, putting that fuel in the tank to get you set up for the day.

Most importantly eat within that first hour of waking and always have protein, fats and carbs together to maintain steady blood glucose levels.
You may not feel like it first thing but start small and slowly increase this.
Your hormones will thank you for this.

Hand me the DRUGS! Such a normal thing to do for Hand me the DRUGS!

Such a normal thing to do for many women that suffer with painful monthly periods. Grab the box of ibuprofen!

While ibuprofen is great at dulling the pain & lets you crack on with your busy day it doesn’t resolve the issue. When the next monthly cycle approaches the same thing happens and we take the drugs to get through the pain. All the while months are passing by and you have no explanation for these painful periods other than “it’s a woman thing, just get on with it”.

Firstly always have that discussion with your GP, explaining the level of pain and how limiting it can be for you. Many women think that this isn’t something they should bother their GP with but it is important to let them know.

Pain is often linked to inflammation so ideally you want to be doing everything that is ANTI inflammatory. So look at an anti-inflammatory diet and see what changes you can implement to help with this. There are some great natural anti inflammatory nutraceuticals to support with this don’t forget to look at what inflammatory triggers you may be doing that are adding to the burden.
