Eat The Rainbow!

We often encourage our clients to eat the rainbow, which means you should try to have a plate that is bursting with colour and variety. A diet rich in vibrant, different coloured fruit & veg has great benefits to your health. You will be getting essential nutrients, phytochemicals, antioxidants, fiber and you will be supporting your own little gut microbes who will be all singing “variety is the spice of life”!!!

Orange & Yellow: These include our lovely yellow and orange fruit & veg; carrots, pumpkin, butternut, sweet potato, turmeric, saffron, mango, pineapple, oranges…They contain CAROTENOIDS, ZEAXANTHIN and HESPERIDING which are converted into Vitamin A. Carotenoids have anti-inflammatory properties and also have a role in hormone and eye health, skin health, immune function.

Purple: These include our lovely blue and purple fruit & veg; beetroot red cabbage, radishes, aubergines, black currents, blackberries and purple grapes…They contain ANTHOCYANINS, RESVERATROL, FLAVONOIDS and PHENOLICS which are a powerful antioxidant that have anti-inflammatory properties and have a role in protecting our cells from damage including healthy ageing, liver health, cognitive health, heart health.

Green: These include our lovely green fruit & veg; kale, broccoli, kiwi,cabbage, spinach, sprouts, peas, green peppers, avocado…They contain SULFORAPHANE and INDOLES, ZEAXANTHIN, ISOTHIOCYANATES which support eye health, lung health, gum health, hormone balancing and liver function.

Red: These include our lovely red and pink fruit & veg; tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, red peppers, watermelon, radish, red apples, cherries…They contain ANTHOCYANINS, QUERCETIN ELLAGIC ACID and LYCOPENE which are a powerful antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory they have a role in, prostate health, hormone health, DNA health and have been shown to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol and liver disease.

White: These include our lovely white and cream shaded fruit & veg; mushrooms, onions, garlic, cauliflower, parsnip,turnips, celery, artichoke …They contain INDOLES, QUERCETIN, ALLICIN and GLUCOSINOLATE which all support healthy bones, heart health, hormone health & liver health
